Mental Case 1.2.1 Released

Mental Case 1.2.1 is now available for download. Version 1.2.1 is a minor upgrade to Mental Case. The most significant change is the introduction of an On-The-Fly Lesson. This is a small panel that floats on your desktop and rotates through your lesson notes while you work on other things. The idea is to enhance your learning, or remind you of interesting facts, even when you are not using Mental Case. The On-The-Fly Lesson does not change your learning schedule, so you can ignore it when busy, and pay it some attention when you have a few seconds.

There are many other smaller changes in Mental Case 1.2.1. Here is a list of bug fixes and new features:

  • Added a Slide Shows > Resume Slide Show menu item. This can be used to resume a non-lesson slide show if it is interrupted.
  • Added a preference to the Lesson preference pane for the action taken when a lesson note is marked as incorrect.
  • Slide viewing time fields are now editable, so you can enter numbers, rather than using the slider.
  • Improved the behavior of the sliders for viewing times in the preferences. It was previously very slow.
  • Quick entry panels can now be used without making Mental Case the active application.
  • Added a hot key for the menu bar ‘Add Mental Note’ item.
  • Added shortcuts for most slide show controls. You can now tab between right and wrong, for example. The tooltips give the shortcut keys.
  • Lightened the shade of gray used in some of the darker slide themes.
  • In lesson slide shows, the right/wrong state of notes is now remembered. If you go back, the selection will be the same as when the note was first viewed.
  • Changed behavior of tables in main window when you right click on non-selected rows.
  • Added time intervals to the descriptions of the lesson schedules in the preferences.
  • Make more use of PNG image format internally, to reduce library size and memory footprint.
  • Improved the resolution of PDF images in slides.
  • Changed behavior of ‘Use Default Viewing Time’ contextual menu, so that it now also sets the prompt viewing time to the default.
  • Slides are now ordered in the lesson first by case, and then by the date they entered the lesson.
  • Fixed a bug with the date in the iCal slide theme.
  • Fixed a bug in which the last lesson note could sometimes remain in the lesson, with its lesson schedule not updated.
  • Fixed some bugs in the help pages, and updated them for On-The-Fly Lesson.
