Non-numerical superscripts

I'm using Mental Case currently to study for Chemistry, and it is working beautifully.

I'm having an issue with entering ions, however. I need to write a superscript "+" and "-". In the Special Characters window, a negative sign can be approximated, but not the positive sign. Pages has a workaround, as you can see from my post on Apple Support.

Is there (or can there be) anything similar for Mental Case?

We've been thinking about how to add basic text formatting to Mental Case. We need to do it in a way that will make it play nice with our themed approach to slideshows, but there are ways to do it.

In the meantime, I guess you could use an image (eg screenshot), or just use a convention like H_2 is for subscript, and H^2 is for superscript. Not ideal, but better than nothing.
